A partnership strategy

As a responsible company, aware of its fundamental role in regional economic growth, Aéroports de Paris is pursuing a dynamic policy of economic and societal cooperation with the aim of contributing to job creation.
Aéroports de Paris is committed to the sustainable development of the airport business within its regional base.

Economic responsibility

Aéroports de Paris assumes its economic responsibility by associating itself with the Regional and Departmental Authorities as well as with consular bodies mainly through 3 types of partnership structures to support:
• the creation of businesses within the CDG area (‘Aéropôle’ business incubator),
• the establishment of new businesses in the areas around CDG and Orly (Datagora, Orly international),
•  the development of local businesses abroad (Orly international).

•  Aéroports de Paris has also concluded partnership agreements with economic expansion agencies, consular bodies and trade associations.

• Aéroports de Paris furthermore provides the general secretariat for Trades, Jobs and Training Observatories at Orly and CDG, chaired by the Prefect of the Ile de France region. These Observatories conduct prospective analytical studies for the economic decision-makers and carry out continuous assessment of the jobs situation at the airports..

• Finally, Aéroports de Paris is developing business opportunities within the economic community of the airports through its participation in trade fairs, the running of clubs for the airport players and even the promotion of a marketplace (airportsmart.com).

Societal responsibility

Aéroports de Paris assumes its social responsibility by associating itself with local government authorities as well as with joint social institutions mainly through 3 types of partnership structures to support:

• Access to jobs for local residents through the hire of vehicles (Papa Charlie),
• Social and professional inclusion of jobless local residents through the activities of a public interest group (PIG) for urban social development (ADIFE),
• Inclusion by economic activity of very disadvantaged people through social inclusion schemes (AIR),
• Creation and validation of employment projects through seminars to learn about airport sites and trades.

Aéroports de Paris has also concluded 3 partnership agreements to benefit the local areas, to support their local plans for inclusion and their urban contracts for social cohesion, not to mention their apprenticeship centres (Pays de Meaux, Val de France, IMA - Villiers le Bel).

Aéroports de Paris is also involved in the Roissy-CDG Employment PIG, a body for discussion and coordination of the employment professionals responsible for the development of a territorial prospective study contract.

On 15 February 2008, Aéroports de Paris signed, with the Employment Minister, a national undertaking to encourage the employment of local youth, within the framework of the Government’s Inner-city Hope Plan.

Finally, within the scope of its Business Foundation, Aéroports de Paris is supporting projects for local inclusion and solidarity, initiated through the community environment.

For the salaried population of its airports, Aéroports de Paris is running and co-funding structures and systems to help with accommodation (housing committee), care for small children (inter-company crèches), transport on request (allobus), HR clubs etc.

Impacts

Economic data:
• 22,000 local residents benefit annually from various social activities,
• 500 local residents with social problems find a job on our platforms annually,
i.e. about 8.5% of the jobs created.

Political data:
• Among the co-funding of partnerships,
47% comes from the Ile-de-France Region,
    26% comes from the Departments,
    7% comes from the State,
20% comes from partnership bodies and member companies of the organisations.

In political terms, this programme enhances the flow of job creation and the volume of business by involving the most disadvantaged people.

Partnership is essential because it allows players in the region to have a share in the stakes of airport growth and a positive and constructive form of relationship.

Conclusion

Our initiatives are always ahead of the game. Within the framework of future Sustainability Charters at Paris-CDG and Paris-Orly, Aéroports de Paris will be able to report a genuine record in terms of Economic Responsibility and in terms of Social and Societal Responsibility, as we are already able to do in terms of Environmental Responsibility.
