Passenger traffic figures
Aéroports de Paris handled 7.67 million passengers in August 2006, an increase of 2.9% compared to August 2005, with 5.38 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+3.5%) and 2.29 million at Paris-Orly (+1.4%).
The increased traffic over this month was driven by the growth of internal European Union traffic.
Domestic traffic grew by 1.3%. European traffic rose by 6.4% thanks to Schengen traffic (+9.4%). Traffic to the ten new EU member states also increased (+5.2%). There was a slight fall in traffic to Great Britain (-3%), owing to the terrorist attacks that were prevented in London. Traffic to other international destinations has risen by 1.1% and includes varying degrees of changes. Growth remains significant in Africa (+5.8%) and Asia (+1.5%). The traffic to destinations in North America and Latin America has been lower, by 2.3% and 6.7% respectively, in particular with the drop in the number of tourists going to the United-States and the momentary interruption of Varig's flight operations in Brazil. The traffic to the Middle-East has fallen by 3%, as a result of political instability in the region.
