Aéroports de Paris installs lowered counters in all its terminals
Aéroports de Paris is installing lowered information counters for disabled access in its airports. Before the end of the year, all the terminals will have lowered information counters equipped with magnetic sets for hearing impaired passengers. 15 Aéroports de Paris 80 cm-high information counters will allow easier access for wheel-chair users.
"Thanks to such concrete and targeted measures, we intend to rapidly improve disabled access to our airports services", said Pierre Graff, Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Paris. These new facilities are part of a global improvement program for passengers with reduced mobility:
In all the car parks, passengers with reduced mobility have access to dedicated parking spaces equipped with a courtesy telephone. These telephones are directly linked to the car park manager. Moreover, in the off airport car parks, a 50 % discount is offered to passengers with reduced mobility driving their own vehicle or to their escort.
Today, all terminals have a safe drop off area designed to facilitate disabled access to information counters
For the hearing impaired, the first airport television channel AEO has been broadcasting since August 2005 information programs in LSF (French Sign Language) at both Parisian airports.
Since June 2005, thanks to the use of an IONSCAN at security checkpoints, disabled passengers have been able to keep their personal wheelchair to go through security checks and hence save time.
